Lacy and Shannon were (finally!) married in September of 2021 at Ru’s Farm in Healdsburg, California. I had the pleasure of working with Lacy and her wedding planner, Genevieve Roja of Lily Spruce, back in early 2020 to create custom wedding invitations. These would set the tone for Lacy and Shannon’s wedding, while also getting guests excited for the big day! Shortly after mailing out their wedding invitations, a certain pandemic came into play. They ended up having to postpone the special event twice, but in the end it all worked out and the event was absolutely gorgeous. I am so excited to share the beautiful photos by their talented photographer, Gretchen Grause.
In addition to providing all of the important details, I like to think of wedding invitations as the first glimpse that guests will get into what your wedding day is going to look and feel like. Lacy and I collaborated tirelessly (tons of emails and phone calls – Lacy can corroborate this!) to nail down the perfect aesthetic for her vision. Together, we landed on the perfect shade of romantic sage green text paired with specially curated watercolor florals and foliage. A pop of color was added by utilizing a deep green rsvp envelope with white ink for contrast. An organic watercolor border with the cutest icons on the details card incorporated a touch of fun. We used their initials, “L” and “S”, to create a whimsical interlocking monogram for their main wedding invitation card. As a finishing touch, blush wax seals were created with a Morgan family crest. Of course, I love how their wedding invitation suite turned out! However, the most special aspect of this invitation suite to me is how deeply personal and representative it is of them as a couple.
When guests checked into their hotel rooms for the wedding weekend, custom welcome bags with welcome note cards were waiting to greet them. Lacy commissioned an artist for the cutest watercolor map of the wedding weekend area in Healdsburg, California. We pulled in the same watercolor florals and foliage from the wedding invitation suite and added more cute watercolor icons in a tri-fold format. Guests were treated to a sweet thank you note, details about the schedule of events, and the wedding weekend shuttle transportation schedule. Also in the bag were bottled water, snacks, and local treats.
Wedding ceremony booklets were placed in baskets on barrels for guests to follow along with the events. My favorite part of this is the quote on the back cover from Lacy’s late father.
To further honor Lacy’s late father, we created a custom “Reserved” sign that was attached to the wedding ceremony chair that he would have been sitting at. A bouquet on the seat cushion was the finishing touch. I still think about this very special tribute to this day.
Instead of the usual table numbers, Lacy and Shannon assigned their tables with the names of cities that held importance to them. Their sweetheart table was labeled as San Francisco – the city where they currently reside.
The wedding reception meal featured family-style entrées, which I think is a fabulous idea! We printed menus for each place setting, describing the dishes in detail and illustrating with watercolor food icons. I also pulled in the same organic watercolor border from their wedding invitation details card, and I handwrote the headers on the menu cards for a whimsical look.
It was such an honor to work with Lacy and Shannon. Congratulations again!
